The entire concept of a "writable database" is something that's becoming increasingly important to be honest. Maybe Datasette should have that as a core concept which plugins can interact with?

I had to write this code in datasette-upload-csvs which is a bit nasty:

python if await datasette.permission_allowed( actor, "upload-csvs", default=False ) and any( db.is_mutable and db.name not in ("_memory", "_internal") for db in datasette.databases.values() ):

{
    "total_count": 0,
    "+1": 0,
    "-1": 0,
    "laugh": 0,
    "hooray": 0,
    "confused": 0,
    "heart": 0,
    "rocket": 0,
    "eyes": 0
}
